DTV local channels

Did you know some DIRECTV clients might permitted receive non-local feeds of major broadcast communities? Eligibility is governed by federal law*, and it is based on a number of aspects including:

• That you don't live near a metropolitan area
• You can't get any television reception whatsoever
• Your home is more than 70 miles from television station broadcast towers

Receiving HD Feeds via Off-Antenna
In a few places, we may provide standard neighborhood stations, yet not HD networks. Within these places you may be able to obtain regional HD programs through an off-air antenna**.

*Under the Satellite Home Viewer Improvement Act (SHVIA) DIRECTV is permitted to transfer non-local feeds of major broadcast sites "for personal home viewing" to "persons just who reside in unserved homes." "Private residence viewing" is described as "viewing, for private use in a family group in the shape of satellite reception equipment that is run by a person because family and which serves only that home." An "unserved home" means one that obtains less than a Grade B sign from regional television programs. SHVIA requires that we make use of the person Location Longley-Rice ("ILLR") model to determine whether an individual resides in an unserved household.
